Lonsdale Ferry 1917
This print was featured in a blog post by North Shore Heritage. The writer did an excellent job in researching the background of this print. “The impressive woodcut print shown above is the work of local artist Rick Herdman. The image shows the Lonsdale Ferry landing in 1917. It comes from a photograph taken by the artist’s great uncle and early Vancouver photographer, William John Moore, 1887-1963. The photo was discovered by the artist among a collection of Moore’s photographs in the basement of the North Vancouver home of the artist’s grandmother.” -

Georgia Viaduct 1915
My great uncle, William Moore, was a photographer in Vancouver in the early 20th century. This image is based one one of his panoramic photos. - Image is 11"x15" (28cmx38cm) on paper sized 13.5"x18" (33cmx46cm) this should fit into a standard frame of that has 5 12x16" images. -

Eldar Cedar
This image tells the story of a west coast rain forest. Fir trees are one of the first species of trees to grow. They grow fast and create a canopy of dappled light that nurtures cedar trees below. When the cedars grow large enough the firs trees thin out and the cedars now become the elders. -

'Corvus' is a hand pulled woodcut print. This print was intended to have a different background. I was experimenting on how to capture the spirit of a raven. In one experiment I free rolled the background and it felt right. Both the colour plate and the key plate are treated in this manner. Because of this technique this print a varying edition of 30. 'Corvus' is a hand pulled woodcut print. This print was intended to have a different background. I was experimenting on how to capture the spirit of a raven.
